Public safety is the business of the Elizabethton Police Department. In addition to eforcing the law (many laws are enacted and enforced specifically for the purpose of enhancing public safety) and maintaining the peace, a law enforcement agency exists to serve the public by acting to promote the safety of the community.

One way to achieve this goal is the education of the public about safety issues.
